About SSL Certificates
Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificates help to confirm the identity of a server, such as a web server, mail server, FTP server, etc.. They also facilitate the encryption of connections to that server to protect against interception and manipulation of the data that is being sent to and from the server when users connect to it. SSL certificates are available from a variety of providers, some paid and some free of charge. Each SSL certificate has a validity period with a defined expiry date and time, and the certificate must be renewed before it expires to avoid errors regarding an invalid certificate being shown to users. Use our handy tool to check when your SSL certficate expires so you are prepared!
Keep in mind that there are various components to a valid SSL configuration, many of which are currently outside the scope of this tool. If you want to validate your SSL setup beyond simply checking the expiry date of your certificate, other tools are available to help with that.
